The cleaning of storage space for your Gmail account

Currently the total amount of which is 15GB of Gmail users, up 15 lanso to debut in 2004. Although many users find that storage space is not big enough, with those who regularly have to send and receive attachment is very difficult. The aforementioned 15GB is also shared with Google Drive and Google+ Photos. So how we can clean up Gmail? Refer to the following several ways.
First, delete the file attachments
Gmail search bar allows us to seek some kind of file
Example: You want to find messages with MP3 attachments, type the name of the file: mp3 or if you want to find data and then you write: filename: poison. After the search is complete to delete all messages that have not yet to, or letters that are too old. If the file is necessary to you, ok you can save it to your computer before deleting. As an attached file size can be up to 25MB to delete files in this way can help you clean up storage space more efficiently.
Besides, for files such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, if you still want to store online, you move them to the original format of Google Drive. This way, you can view your documents wherever you manage them, send to multiple recipients, while the size of the file is not limited to 15GB more.
In ancient times this feature does not exist in Gmail. Recently it added new services to. By using the phrase "greater than", you can find the letter with attachments larger than a certain size. For example, larger: 5m means the files can not be less than 5MB capacity.
I tried with my account and returns results 20 emails containing attachments larger than 5MB, so if you remove them, you get 100MB of storage space, which is a big number. If you do not regularly clean up the data space, the result returned will email more

Trash and Spam cleaner

Messages that you delete in Gmail still not completely lost. They will be moved into a separate area called "Trash", and only when you remove the trash, storage space is really free. To access this area, you can click on the "Trash", and then select all the emails here and delete them. Do not forget to delete the Spam / Junk mail spam that Gmail messages are automatically filtered out for you is stored. In certain time, this folder can hold up to hundreds of letters.

Switch to plain text email

The emails include graphics, colorful decoration is a letter in HTML format. Normally, such a letter does not take much space, but imagine you have hundreds, even thousands of letters, it is completely become a "nightmare". So if you do not want to use HTML, just set up for Gmail to send messages in plain text, so we'll save more capacity.

To set up: in the message box, click on the small arrow in the lower right corner of the screen, select "Plain Text Mode".

Delete old emails, read emails.

We use the Gmail search box again. In this way, you do not have to search for letters manually. All you need is to type “older_than: 2y” to display messages that are older than 2 years. And if you want to clean up more, you can try “1Y”, which means the limitation is within 1 year. When the results appear, you select all of them, click the Trash icon.

In addition to using keywords older_than, you can enter other phrases such as title, sender … so that the cleanup is more efficient. For example, I use the phrase “g.mailsignin.org older_than: 1Y” to display notification letters from g.mailsignin.orgwhich arre older than 1 year, then I will clean up a large amount of storage space.

Want to find and delete read messages, you use the keywords “in: inbox is: read”.

Download backup

If you can not delete the email for some reasons, you can download them to store on your PC and then delete them in Gmail. By using an application on PC, such as Thunderbird or Email application which is available in Windows or OS X, you can download this letter, then export to save it in a certain place. Way of exporting depends on the application, this feature will be typically put on the File> Export.
